My concern is teachers because they are the people I mostly interact with here.
Dear teacher,
Why do we get frustrated when students do not get comprehension questions correctly even after we have read out a passage to them over and over again?
It is simply because we think that, they did not pay enough attention to the passage which is why they could not answer the question.
Now, this brings me to how we as teachers are also causing frustration in the lives of those willing to help us.
During #tthcc25 , even if we had put out all the information needed for the conference, oh my goodness! You will read and see teachers dropping comments of "I'm interested" infact I cannot count the number of people that asked me why they were in the pre-participant group.
Is it the ones that will be seeing the price clearly stated and still go ahead to ask you, "How much?"
I don't even want to go to those who will come after one month to ask a question that we have answered over and over again.
It was frustrating.
Now, we told teachers to come in for DIGITAL LITERACY training.
It's clearly written that the training is free, YET teachers are asking us, "how much does the training cost?"
Even if we stated clearly the person they should reach out to should they have questions, they are still dropping messages to the wrong person and I am wondering how are we TEACHERS IF WE CANNOT READ.
How are we teaching other people's children if the very problem we want to solve are still the ones we have?
Why is it difficult to read and comprehend very simple and straight forward messages?
Why is this thing becoming such a problem that IT IS even leading to frustration on the people who are willing to help?
WHY ARE WE NOT READING?
WHAT ARE WE TEACHING OUR LEARNERS?
WHAT EXAMPLES ARE WE SETTING?
Should we also teach you how to READ and COMPREHEND?
I cannot count the number of people I have blocked because they will NOT FOLLOW simple instructions.
Please, let us stop this!
This is how you go to banks and before you can even READ to COMPREHEND, you have filled the wrong thing on the form.
You see an opportunity online before you can even READ to COMPREHEND, you have filled and submitted the wrong thing.
This is how opportunities keep passing you by.
I don't even want to talk about the ones who cannot fill a Google form with just five questions CORRECTLY.
Like a person will see the part for, "input email" and fill their names or phone number there.
They will be the first to disturb your DM with, "I did not receive any mail but I filled the form."
This thing is so frustrating and I am still wondering how we are teaching when we cannot even COMPREHEND ourselves what is written in the textbooks that we teach.
God will help us o!!!
