Dr. Ben
Carson,
who is a Professor of Neurosurgery, the first doctor to separate siemese twins
joined at the back of their head shared this story in his Book titled, “THINK
BIG”
One
of my classmate ate pre-med at Yale graduated "magna cum laude" - no small attainment at any Ivy-league school.
However,
I saw one basic character flaw in the man. He wasn’t honest. The fellow
flagnantly disregarded rules and regulations that as a student he had promised
to observe.
Frequently,
he broke curfew regulations and often had women in his room overnight at a time
when such was not permitted.
Many
of our examinations were the closed-book type examinations based on the honour
code. The professor gave out the examination and often left the room. During
the exam, I often saw this classmate opening his book, and many other students.
Yet,
he did not seem to worry that anyone of importance would notice. The day of
reckoning came, of all the pre-med students I knew at Yale, he was the only one
not accepted into any medical school.
It
is a strange behavior pattern how people deceive themselves, thinking that no
one will unmask their dishonesty, that
they can hide in the crowd.
So when next
you want to act dishonestly, remember that a day of reckoning is coming.
