A SIMPLE GESTURE SAVED HIS LIFE

Mark was walking home from school one day when he noticed the boy ahead of him tripped and dropped all of the books he was carrying, along with two sweaters, a baseball bat, a glove and a small tape recorder.

TAKE RISK (3)

I am sure that after reading about taking risk in the last two days, you really want to take a risk to better your life. But before you start taking any risk, kindly read this short story to understand better. I had an uncle who was a driver to a bank, he had been a driver to the bank for more than fifteen years. It happened that some of the staff in the banks were obtaining loans to acquired real estates and one of the staff advised him to obtain the loan and buy a piece of land and erect his own house. He thought about taking the loan and how he is going to pay the huge interest. Yet, he summoned courage and applied for the loan, he was given the loan and he bought a land and erected a three-bedroom apartment on it. Just two years after he the completion the building, there were reforms in the banking sector and it affected most banks forcing the banks to lay-off most of their staff. He was among the staff that was laid off by his bank and he was given a little sum as pay-off after the loan had been deducted. I just pitied those staff that were laid off who didn’t have a house of their own. If he had not taken that risk and applied for that loan many years ago, he won’t had erected his own house and being a landlord today. What is preventing you from taking that risk? Why are you so scared? Go ahead and take that loan. Start up that business with that little capital. Speak to that individual who you think will sponsor you. Go ahead and purchase that exam form. Register for that course. It is worth the risk and don’t wait any longer. Go ahead and take the risk.

TAKE RISK (2)

John Mason wrote in his book, THE IMPOSSIBLE IS POSSIBLE that “The world is a book that those who don’t take risk read only one page”.

TAKE RISK (1)

Elizabeth Kenny said, “It is better to be a lion one day than to be a sheep all your life” Lets compare a lion to a sheep and you will understand better. A lion is a bold, fearless and determined animal ready to kill its prey at any time while a sheep is a timid and fearful animal and that is why it is a prey to the lion. If you dare for nothing, you need hope for nothing. If you risk anything, you even risk more. Everyone has a chance to prove himself but some don’t believe in taking chances. Being destined for greatness requires that you take risk and confronts great hazards. Morris West said, “If you spend you whole life waiting for the storm, you will never enjoy sunshine. No one reaches to the top without daring” Most people fail to understand why they need to take risk and that is why Chuck Yeager explained, “You don’t concentrate on risk, you concentrate on results. No risk is too great to prevent the necessary job from being done”. If you truly want to be successful and not remain a mediocre, then take risk. Like a turtle, you must stick out your neck in order to know where you are going. Enough is enough of this play it safe mentality. DON’T BE A SHEEP ANYMORE, BE A LION!

USE YOUR BRAIN

He was the most travelled man of the 19th century, A great Evangelist and the founder of Church of God Mission In. It was the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa that said, “God has given you a head so that he can rest” This is a perfect truth but I have noticed especially in Africa that we often don’t use our brain, we like to work and not work smart. Let me illustrate with this short story. A young man was working tirelessly to cut a tree, for over 5 hours, he had been cutting the tree. An old lumberjack saw him and said, “You look exhausted, how long have you been cutting?” “For over 5hours”, replied the young man. The old man said, “Then, why you take a break and sharpen your saw?” the young man replied, “I don’t like sharpening and anyway, I don’t have time right now. I am too busy sawing” Now you understand why the tree won’t be cut down by the young man in the story simply because he had refused to sharpen his saw. But most people are like the young man in the story. They never take time to sharpen, think and re-strategize; all they do is work, work and work. When you do the same job, expect the same result and salary. One day, sit down and make use of your brain, to bring out ideas that will improve your life. You can earn more money, be more effective to your organization or company only when you make use of your brain. Listen to Abraham Lincoln that, “if I have 10hours to cut a tree, I will spend six hours sharpening my axe” You can deduct the meaning from the above statement.

STAND UP FOR YOUR INTEGRITY

This is a story of a man known as Joshua, he was a Christian in a local congregation. He was very devoted and committed to the things of God. Joshua was punctual and regular to service, he was a church worker and in charge of the church instruments and maintenance.

OUR ATTITUDE TOWARDS OTHERS

Once upon a time, a girl named Lilian got married and went to live with her husband and mother-in-law. In a very short time, Lilian found out that she couldn’t get along with her mother-in-law at all. Their personalities were very different, and Lilian was angered by many of her mother-in-law’s habits. In addition, she criticized Lilian constantly.

ONE YEAR TO LIVE

Anthony Burgess was 40years old when he learnt that he had only one year to live.

He had a brain tumour  that would kill him within a year. He knows he had a battle on his hands.

He was completely broke at that time and didn’t have anything to live behind for his wife, Lynne, who will soon become a widow.

Burgess had never been a professional novelist in the past, but he always knew the potential was inside him to be a writer.

So, for the sole purpose of leaving royalties behind for his wife, he put a piece of paper into a typewriter and began writing.

He had no certainty that it would even been published, but he couldn’t think of anything else to do.

“It was January of 1960,”  he said, “and according to the prognosis, I had a winter, a spring and a summer to live through, and would die with the fall of the leaf”

Knowing that he was about to die in a year time, Burgess wrote energetically and passionately, finishing five and half novels before the end of the year.

The goodnews was that Burgess did not die. His cancer had gone into remission and then disappeared altogether.

In his long and full life as a novelist (he is best known for A clock-work orange), he wrote more than 70 books, but without the death sentence from cancer, he won’t had been a writer.

Many of us are like Anthony Burgess, hiding the greatness inside, waiting for some external emergency to bring it out.

Like Anthony Burgess asked, “If you have one year to live, what would you do differently?

What will you do to ensure that you leave a legacy behind and that you are not forgotten even after you had gone?”

Waste no time and start making use of your gifts, talents and hidden potential. Yes it’s in you!

NO TIME! NO TIME!! NO TIME!!!

I woke up in the morning,
checked the time and found
out that I would be late for work
if I don’t hurry up.

I quickly jumped from my bed,
got into the bathroom, brush my teeth,
had my bath, quickly prepared breakfast and left for work.

No time to pray and say thank you for a new day.
I got to work in no time, quickly settled down and
start my work for the day. No time to pray and
commit the day’s work into God’s hands.

Within few hours, it was time for break,
I hurriedly ate my lunch and relax for some minutes.

Soon, break was over and back to work,
I must ensure that my job for that day
was neatly done and completed as the
following day’s work would even be
more hectic and unpredictable.

Soon, it was closing time and
I tidy up my office and went home.
 When I got home,
I was very hungry and quickly prepared dinner.

No time to say thank you
Lord for a successful day’s work
I ate dinner and since I was very tired to watch television,

I slept off. It gradually became a daily routine,
no time to pray and study the bible.

And before I knew it, time waits for no one.
I soon gave up the ghost and behold,
I was before an angel who welcomed me.

 The angle said,
“You lived a good life on earth
and you served God very well.

You were also committed
to your job and treated others well,
but you never had time to communicate with your maker”

“No time you will always say,
and so I wanted to write your name in the book of life,
 but there was no time”
# I stood motionless and confused,
 I wept and wept.

“No time, No time, No time,”
I will always say. Now I have the time,
 but it was too late.
The message can't be clearer than this

 Happy Sunday

DON'T LOSE YOUR INTEGRITY

With all the saga surrounding his election,
and controversies around him,

General Muhammadu Buhari said,
"Everyone keep asking questions about my CERTIFICATE
But no one has questioned my INTEGRITY"

As we move into another era
 in the history of Nigeria,

Its democracy day today,
and we are looking forward to CHANGE

We also as citizens must
brace ourselves up for the change that is to come.

Cause I don't see how a man
can change the attitude of over 170 million nigerians,
if we aren't willing to embrace that change.

The change must start from us,
all hands must be on deck to ensure
that we make Nigeria a better country
for us and the generation to come.

As we mark democracy day today,
we must STAND UP FOR OUR INTEGRITY

Don't sell your conscience,
remain committed and devoted to your duties.

You can make an impact from where you are,
making impact isn't all about position or titles.

Its about what you do now.
HAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY

USE YOUR BRAIN (Part 2)

Your brain is your most powerful tool towards making your life better. With your brain, you can think and bring out powerful ideas that transfrom the world and provide solutions to prople's problems. But sadly enough, most people often under-utilize their brain power.

Experts tells us that an average individial doesn't one-tenth (1/10) of their brain in their life time. And they went on to say, that IF ANY INDIVIDUAL WOULD USE ONE-QUARTER (1/4) OF HIS BRAIN, HE WOULD GREATER THAN ANY SCIENTISTS THAT HAS EVER LIVED.

So what stops you from getting to the top? What stops you from maximizing your brain power.

In my article titled "AGED 30" I wrote, that if you don't spend at least 30mins everyday of your quiet time alone, thinking and brainstorming on how to improve your life, be of more value to yourself and organization, then you are just existing"

Sir Charles Dewar said, "Minds are like Parachute, they only function when they are opened"

So today, start using your brain power, think and think, profer solutions, ask questions, exercise your brain power, don't leave it dormant.

THE JOY & REWARDS THAT SUCCESS BRINGS

Whenever I hear the word success, the first thing that comes to my mind is the joy and reward that accompanies it.

Just imagine how happy you become when you are successful.

Imagine the joy of victory and all the benefits that success brings. It will surely create in you the desire to succeed.

Take a close look at the Super eagles that just won the 2013 African Cup of Nations – all the cash rewards and other benefits that the government both at state and federal rewarded them with. Also what individuals gave to them. Just imagine the joy of each member of the team when they lifted the trophy. Today, their name is written in gold as a winner of the African cup of nations.

So, today if there is anything that should motivate you towards achieving success, it should be the joy and rewards that success brings.

Think of what you stand to gain if you are successful, if you gain that admission, complete that assignment, release that album, publish that book, pass that exam, start that business, achieve that goal, climb to the top.

Nothing can be compared to the joy of achieving success and don’t stop until you become successful.
